Origins
Having its genesis as the Middle Head Spring Ball, conducted by 10 Terminal Regiment until its relocation, the inaugural Victoria Barracks Officers Mess Spring Ball was held in 2006. In 2009, the Victoria Barracks Officers Mess Spring Ball became known as the Sydney Military Officers Spring Ball, becoming a genuine tri-service event. It has since become the premier military social activity of the year in the Sydney area.
Over the past seven years a ‘distinguished’ theme in keeping with the nature of the function has been used for the Spring Ball. These have ranged from: Venetian Carnivale (2006); Roaring 20/30s (2007); Out of Africa (2008); Back to Vegas (first iteration of the Sydney Military Officers Spring Ball) (2009); Carnivale (Rio vs Venice) (2010); Hollywood (2011) and Military Ball (2012).
For 2013, the Spring Ball will have the theme of Fair Ground Carnivale.
